The top layer is the finished wood species of choice while the bottom layers are cross planks from less expensive wood. To be able to refinish engineered wood, the top layer must be thick enough to be able to be sanded without reaching the bottom layers. Wide plank-engineered flooring is more stable than solid wide plank hardwood.

The wider planked solid hardwoods have a greater tendency to cup. Engineered wood can be installed over a concrete subfloor while solid hardwood cannot. Hardwood floors increase your home’s value, add warmth and charm, and are a beautiful addition to any home.
